The sun can be your best friend or your worst enemy as a filmmaker, it has the ability to create some of the most beautiful light possible. But on days when the sun is not working exactly as you need it to, you will need to know how to create sunlight with artificial light sources.
In this video we uses the Forza series combined with PavoTubes to create natural sunshine on set to create a convincing winter look to promote down jackets on this commercial shoot.
The team built a set measuring 5m x 7m with trees and snow to recreate the look of a winters walk in the forest, the high power of the NANLITE Forza 500 offers enough power to create convincing sunlight on a shoot of this scale.
During the shoot three Forza 500's are used to simulate sunshine, and one Forza 500 placed to the left to create the effect of sun bouncing back on snow. One Forza 300 with softbox was used to create authentic fill. In order to simulate the snowscape with a genuine blue hue, the PavoTube's HSI function was set to 200 with a saturation on 8-10%, the combination of all these lights and a great set lead to a convincing piece of commercial content.
